1 Samuel 2:1-11

Chapter 2
1 And Hannah prayed and said, "My heart exults in the LORD; my horn is exalted in the LORD. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, for I have rejoiced in your salvation." 2 There is none holy like the LORD, for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God. 3 Do not multiply words—do not speak loftily, loftily! Arrogance comes forth from your mouths, for the LORD is a God of skilled knowledges, and to him actions are weighed. 4 The bow of mighty men is broken, and the stumbling have girded on strength. 5 Those who were full with seven have been sated, and the hungry have ceased—until a barren one bore seven, and she who had many sons languished. 6 The LORD kills and gives life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up. 7 The LORD makes poor and makes rich; he makes low and also exalts. 8 He raises a poor man from the dust, a needy man from the ash heap. He lifts the poor to make him sit with nobles, and he causes them to inherit a throne of glory. For the foundations of the earth belong to the LORD, and he sets the world upon them. 9 He will keep the feet of his faithful ones, and the wicked will be silenced in darkness, for by strength no man will prevail. 10 The LORD will shatter his adversaries against him; the LORD will thunder from the heavens. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed one. 11 And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house, and the boy was serving the LORD before Eli the priest.
